Research from the Brain Tumor Group Featured on the Cover of Neuro-Oncology
A research article by Sachi Maeda, Fumiharu Ooka, and Ryuta Saito from the Brain Tumor Group has been selected as the cover article of Neuro-Oncology, one of the leading international journals in the field of neuro-oncology.
Article title:
Rapid intraoperative genetic analysis of adult-type diffuse gliomas using a microfluidic real-time polymerase chain reaction device
In this study, the authors reported a method that enables rapid intraoperative genetic analysis of adult-type diffuse gliomas in approximately 25 minutes using a microfluidic real-time PCR device.
This technology makes it possible to obtain molecular information during surgery, which is expected to contribute to more precise surgical decision-making and improved treatment strategies.

On May 16, 2026, Dr. Tomotaka Ishizaki gave a presentation at Luncheon Seminar 2-1 (LS2-1) during the 46th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Congress of Neurological Surgeons, held at the Kyoto International Conference Center.
The presentation, entitled “Visualization Transforming Epilepsy Surgery: New Therapeutic Strategies Enabled by Brainlab Elements,” highlighted emerging possibilities in epilepsy surgery through advanced visualization technologies, as well as the utility of Brainlab Elements in surgical planning and intraoperative support.
Our department will continue to advance both clinical practice and research by actively incorporating innovative medical technologies.
